Lambda Theta Alpha prides itself as an organization that is not exclusive to any womyn, especially one that is passionate about making a commitment to uphold the organization and continue its legacy. Here at the University of Vermont, diversity and social justice is even more of a value in the fabric and philosophy of the university, even more so than many schools in the nation. Epsilon Zeta chapter lives by the motto of "Latin by Tradition, NOT by Definition," because it espouses the idea that although Lambda Theta Alpha was founded with Latin traditions, we seek diverse womyn to join our Sisterhood. We are not an exclusionary organization and welcome womyn of any nationality, ethnicity, race, creed, sexual orientation, ability, culture, and identities. In fact, our first seven founding sisters came from various ethnicities: Puerto Rican, Ecuadorian, Chinese, Jamaican, and Dominican roots. When LTA chapters were asked in a survey in 2004 to list all of the cultures represented in their chapters, we found that our organization was made out of 104 different cultures!
